OraLase is a non-invasive laser therapy designed t OraLase is a non-invasive laser therapy designed to help reduce pain, improve function, and address fascial restrictions in the head and neck. We often describe it as a deep fascial muscle massage with light.

For patients experiencing TMJ disorders and orofacial pain, OraLase allows us to treat the muscles and soft tissues associated with the jaw, face, head, and neck. Many patients report relief from muscle tension, reduced discomfort, and improved jaw function following treatment.

For some patients with mild symptoms, OraLase alone may provide meaningful relief and improved comfort. For patients who require custom TMJ splint therapy, OraLase is included as part of their treatment plan to help address muscle tension and support the overall effectiveness of treatment. By treating both the muscles and, when needed, the bite, we can help patients move toward better function and greater comfort.

One of the things patients love most about OraLase is how relaxing the treatment feels. Many describe it as feeling like the warm sun on their face.

Sleep apnea doesn’t just affect breathing, it disr Sleep apnea doesn’t just affect breathing, it disrupts the quality of your sleep at its core. In this video, our owner and dentist, Dr. Neville, and sleep care coordinator, Jenny, explain how untreated sleep apnea can significantly interfere with REM sleep, the most restorative phase of the sleep cycle. Each time you wake up or experience a disruption, your body is forced to restart the sleep cycle, making it harder to reach and maintain deep, restorative sleep.

These repeated interruptions do not just leave you feeling tired, they can also increase sympathetic nervous system activity, keeping your body in a heightened fight or flight state rather than allowing it to fully rest and recover.

Identifying and addressing sleep disordered breathing is an important step toward achieving restful sleep and improving your overall well being.

If you or someone you love struggles with snoring, fatigue, or poor sleep quality, it may be time to explore your options. Give us a call at 215-880-6873 to schedule a consultation!
70% of CPAP users struggle to tolerate it, whether 70% of CPAP users struggle to tolerate it, whether it is the mask, the noise, or how it affects their sleep partner. Because of this, many people choose to do nothing, often because they don’t realize there are alternative treatments.

We recently saw a patient who had avoided treating his sleep apnea because he did not want to use a CPAP and later suffered a heart attack at 35.

Sleep apnea is not just about snoring or feeling tired. When left untreated, it can impact your heart, brain, and overall health, and the longer it goes untreated, the more damage can occur.

The good news is that CPAP is not the only option. An oral sleep appliance can be an effective alternative for many patients, with no machine, no noise, and no mask.

Early treatment can make a life changing difference.

If you have been diagnosed with sleep apnea and stopped treatment or avoided it altogether, it is time to revisit your options. Message or call us today to learn more about what alternatives might work best for you! #sleepapnea #sleepdentistry #thebettersleepdentists

Myth: Snoring is a normal part of sleep.
Fact: Ch Myth: Snoring is a normal part of sleep.

Fact: Chronic snoring is not normal and can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea.

If you or someone you know consistently snores, it could be an indication of untreated sleep apnea, a serious sleep disorder characterized by repeated interruptions in breathing during sleep. In fact, snoring is the most common symptom of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), with up to 94% of OSA patients reporting it, according to the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine.

Untreated sleep apnea isn’t just disruptive to sleep; it can lead to a range of health issues, including high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and daytime fatigue, just to name a few. If snoring is a regular occurrence, it’s important to seek professional evaluation to rule out sleep apnea and explore effective treatment options.

Don’t let snoring go untreated, your health and quality of life are worth it.

A common question we get asked is: what makes an o A common question we get asked is: what makes an oral sleep appliance different from a retainer or a night guard?

The difference is that an oral sleep appliance is a custom-made medical device designed specifically for each patient’s mouth. Its purpose is to reposition the jaw or tongue to help keep the airway open during sleep. In contrast, a night guard is used to protect teeth from grinding, and a retainer helps keep teeth from shifting over time, but neither of these devices treat sleep apnea.

This video shows part of the process: we take precise airway measurements, evaluate airflow through the nostrils, assess jaw movement, and capture full digital impressions of the mouth. These details help us determine how open the airway is and how we can gently reposition the jaw or tongue to improve airflow, ultimately enhancing sleep quality and reducing sleep apnea episodes.

Consistently getting quality, uninterrupted sleep Consistently getting quality, uninterrupted sleep is essential to your overall health. In one study, healthy college students began showing signs of prediabetes after being repeatedly woken during the night. Once their sleep returned to normal, so did their hormone levels.

Now imagine the added strain of disrupted sleep combined with restricted breathing from sleep apnea, your body never truly has the chance to rest and recover. This study did a great job showing the significance of uninterrupted sleep and the effect sleep apnea can have on an individual’s health. This is one of the many reasons we’re committed to helping patients find effective, personalized solutions for better sleep and lasting health.

Sleep apnea treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all. An oral sleep appliance is a custom medical device covered by insurance, designed specifically for your needs. If you’re considering treatment, please avoid generic options like those found on Amazon. A cheaply made, one-size-fits-all appliance could do more harm than good. Always choose a solution tailored to you by a professional.
